These are established or deeply ingrained habits that make us lose time and energy without us knowing anything about it.

It's important to know that these uncontrolled habits control almost 50% of your daily energy- that's like eating up half of your daily productivity .

Let's have a look at what most people do habitually during the course of a work day.

1. Constant E-mail notifications!

WHAT YOU REALLY DO: Besides work emails needing instant response you are inundated with a horde of emails from your social media accounts plus from all the other websites you have signed up.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: This can distract you from working efficiently. So instead dedicate a specific time of the day after work to go through not-work-related emails. Set a specific number of minutes for this too if you do not plan to stay up browsing all night. Set an alarm on your phone.

2. Real-time realities!

WHAT YOU REALLY DO: With all the Real-time apps around communication demands you to be constantly present. And for many of us, with all the online work groups, family groups and business groups and community groups it can really drain our time and energy.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: Try pinning a message at top saying that during working hours though you appear online you may not respond. But that you will have a look at previous group discussions and get back to them if there is anything really important. If it's that urgent they can always call you.

3. Being On Call or Available Online 24/7

WHAT YOU REALLY DO: Remote Working has it's perks allowing you to work without commuting and staying close with your loved ones. This new trend however creates employers to expect most employees to be available at all times. This causes constant distraction and a lot of frustration at home because you can not be totally present with your family or relax knowing that anytime you are going to get a call or a buzz or a beep!

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: Set a few ground rules with your boss if you don't want a serious burnout. Set a routine to spend some electronics-free time with your family and yes that EXcludes watching Netflix.

4. Quit Multitasking

WHAT YOU REALLY DO: It can be tempting to want to take care of a few tasks at once, especially when you are working remotely. Research shows that multitasking creates a lot of distraction. We fool ourselves when we say we can easily juggle phone calls, presentations, and eating lunch.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: Focus on one single task at a time, and you’ll actually end up completing it much faster and with fewer mistakes.

5. Procrastination

WHAT YOU REALLY DO: Looking at work to be done can be challenging and this can cause you to make it seem like a big burden. Without setting out a plan to carry out your work makes you reach nowhere. Unplanned worked is like working with loads of open tabs.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: Start the day to tackle the big tasks first thing in the morning. You can break it up into smaller tasks as this will make you feel more in control and will allow your work to be much more productive.

All these tips definitely will help keep you on track in carrying out your day-to-day tasks. We also hope that it will make your work day seem less daunting.

Always remember that your health comes first, so always take 10-15 minute breaks while working to refresh your mind and body. Because when we get tired we tend to make mistakes. And some mistakes can cost you dearly.

Moreover in order to work productively we need to aim for a good night's sleep, keep your body hydrated, move your body or do some home exercises at least for 15-30 minutes daily.
